Got It! Lublin is going to be the European Youth Capital in 2023! The city was awarded the title by the European Youth Forum, an independent platform gathering over 100 national youth councils and organisations from the Old Continent. The title of European Youth Capital has been awarded since 2009. The aim is to empower young people, increase their participation in decision making and strengthen European identity. This year the title was granted to Klaipeda, next year ? Tirana. Lublin was the first Polish city to receive the honour.

The idea of creating an official student forum to discuss the major issues of the city came from councillor Marcin Bubicz, a student and doctoral student at Lublin universities.

How would the appointed council influence the city?s situation? - Such a forum provides an opportunity to express the opinion of the student community on the most important initiatives, projects, undertakings and events organised by the Mayor of Lublin and the Lublin City Council. The multitude of areas where students? opinions would be welcome only confirms the validity of this idea - claimed Marcin Bubicz in an interview with lublin24.pl.

The Lublin Student Council would be composed of representatives of the Student Government and intercollegiate student organisations. Scientific associations and organisations would also have a significant role to play.
